Oceans Explorers: Mysteries of the Ocean - Ocean Explorers: Mysteries of the Ocean During this week long program, children will use their super sleuthing powers to solve the mysteries of the deep ocean. We will learn about the creatures of the deep, adaptations for living in dark and pressure filled environments, and so much more. We will actively discuss life in the oceans around us, the impact of climate change, and how to ge good ocean stewards. Children will spend part of each day on the beach .Instructor, KC Bloom is the coordinator of the Recreation Management concentration and a faculty member at Salem State University. KC has taught numerous nature related courses, worked in state parks and spends as much time in the woods or on the ocean as possible with her family.Children must turn 4 years old prior to the start of the program.Children should bring a snack, water bottle, bagged lunch each day.Because we are outdoors, we ask that you apply sunscreen prior to dropping your child off each morning. We also ask that you have your child bring water shoes, a hat, and a change of clothing. Children will be spending some time at the beach and exploring on the shoreline in water up to their knees only.Age: 4-7Date:Monday, June 22nd - Friday, June 26thTime: 9:00am -1:00pmLocation: Forest River Function Room - Forest River Park/Pool House, 32 Clifton Ave.Cost: $260.00 for the first child, additional siblings are $180.00 * This program is filled to capacity. Friday Field Trip Mania - Canobie Lake Park Field Trip Join Salem Park, Recreation, and Community Services for Friday Field Trip Mania! Emails will be sent out prior to each field trip with specific details, but please plan on sending your child with a bag packed with a lunch, water, sunscreen, and a towel or something to sit on grass. Please make sure that your contact information (phone and email) is correct, as this is how we will be communicating times, changes, rain dates, etc. These trips are separate from our regular playground programs. Registration for a Mon-Thurs playground program does not reserve a spot on the field trips. Please be sure to read any red colored notes listed under the field trip descriptions!Any questions about these trips, please email kmedeiros@salem.comPlease see below for details about each field trip: June 26th: Canobie Lake Park- We are excited to announce a trip to Canobie Lake Amusement Park in Salem, NH. We do not recommend sending your child on this field trip if they are not a fan of rides or heights. Kids travel in a group settings with a 1 instructor to 5 kid ratio. Ages: 9-14Time/Location: Drop off at Community Life Center at 9:00 AM; Pickup at CLC at 4:00 PMMaterials Needed: Closed toed shoes, backpack to carry belongings, water bottle, snack, lunch, and sunscreen.Cost: $35 * This trip is filled to capacity. Wait list onlyJuly 10th: Ipswich River Watershed Association- We are lucky to be going back to the Ipswich River Watershed Association for a day of nature walks, environmental education, and, of course, kayaking on the Ipswich River! As we will be in the woods and on the water, please send your child in clothes/shoes that are OK getting a bit wet or dirty. Please note: Some paddle experience is recommended for this trip.
