Youth Swim Lessons at Forest River Pool
The City of Salem, in partnership with the YMCA, is offering an 8-week swim lesson program designed to help children build water safety, confidence, and swimming skills in a supportive, fun environment. Lessons are open to Salem residents only. Each lesson is 45 minutes long, and class sizes are limited to a maximum of 12 participants to ensure quality instruction and individual attention. Lessons will run from June 30th - August 22nd. No lessons on Saturday, July 4th due to the holiday. Saturday's classes will be prorated for a 7 week program.
Participants will follow the YMCA’s nationally recognized swim curriculum, which emphasizes:
* Water safety and personal responsibility
* Fundamental swim techniques
* Stroke development and endurance
* Confidence and comfort in aquatic environments
Participants will need to bring a bathing suit, towel and goggles. Goggles will be provided should you need to borrow a pair for the lesson.
These lessons are weather dependent. Should we be forced to cancel due to inclement weather or other hazards, you will receive an email notification.
Due to the demand for class slots, we are limiting registration to one session per child.
Ages: 6-12 - This class may be divided by ability level to better serve the needs of beginner, intermediate, and more advanced swimmers.
