Hiking and Outdoor Basics For Families

Join outdoor instructor Angela Ceriello for this introductory family program that will help families attain needed skills and confidence for basic hiking outings. Topics covered will include the ten essentials, trip planning, and Leave No Trace outdoor ethics. There will be both classroom and outdoor activities during this program. The goal of this program will be to create a knowledge base for families to recreate safely outdoors together, while maintaining the environment and strengthening their connections with each other. Sneakers or hiking boots and appropriate clothing is required for the hiking days. 

Dates and time: 
Monday, June 6th from 5:00pm-6:00pm
Monday, June 13th from 5:00pm-6:00pm
Saturday, June 25th from 10:00am-12:00pm
Monday, June 27th from 6:00pm-7:00pm
Sunday, June 26th will serve as a rain date, in case of inclement weather


Location: 
Mondays- Salem Community Life Center, 401 Bridge St. 
Saturday, June 25th-Forest River Conservation Area (meeting in the Salem State South Campus parking lot, Harrison Road.)
Monday, June 27th- Salem Woods (park at the Olde Salem Greens golf course, meet at the trail head). 

Ages: Families with children ages 6-11 years old
*Parental supervision is required for the entirety of the program

Cost: $25.00 per family
Please only register 1 adult for this program. While registering, please indicate the number of additional family members that will attend. 

Pre registration is required. Space is limited.
