The City of Salem, in collaboration with a few local fitness centers, is offering FREE fitness classes for Salem residents.  A wonderful opportunity to take part in some beginner's classes and experience the expertise of our local partners. This offer is good for a 4 week class.

4- Week beginner Fitness for Teens: Ages 13-17
B & S Fitness & CrossFit Iron Spider is offering a beginner fitness program for teens looking to learn about strength training in a fun and welcoming environment.  This program will include two full-body workouts per week that will help increase energy, lean muscle mass, improve focus and attention , and help build confidence with their personal appearance.  All aspects of a well-rounded fitness program will be covered over the 4 week period.  We will also help each participant develop short and/or long-term goals and create a realistic plan for success.  Class is limited to 15 participants.

Days & Times: Monday & Wednesday  3:30 - 4:30pm  * THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN CANCELLED
Class begins on  February 7th and ends on March 2nd

4- Week Health & Fitness Reset for Beginners - Adults 18+
This 4-week health and fitness program at B & S Fitness & CrossFit Iron Spider will include 2 full-body workouts per week designed for people who have not exercised in a long time, if ever.  The workouts will be achievable for every participant who chooses to walk into our doors, and will promote overall strength, balance, weight loss, mobility and flexibility. We will begin the class with a long gentle warm up focused on mobility and flexibility.  Then move into very basic full-body functional strength training and end with a long cool down or more stretching and mobility work.  Our coaches strive to provide a safe and effective workout to help each participant reach their goals in a welcoming, motivating, encouraging and fun atmosphere.  Our nutrition expert will provide guidance and structure throughout the 4-weeks with weekly nutrition challenges, healthy recipes and accountability outside the gym for those looking for extra help and motivation to achieve weight loss or just cleaning up their overall diet.  
COVID has been extremely challenging on us all, but especially people with underlying health issues such as obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure, all of which can be combated with exercise and nutrition.  We will help you take control of your health through this total wellness program with our expert coaches and supportive community of like minded individuals.  Each class is limited to 15 participants.

Introduction to Pickleball - Adults 18+
Pickleball at the YMCA.  Pickleball is a sport that combines elements of badminton, table tennis and tennis. Participants play on a rotating game schedule for an hour.  3 different time slots available. Each time slot is limited to 4 participants.

Day and Times: Sundays, February 6th - February 27th  10:00-11:00am or 11:00am -12:00pm or 12:00-1:00pm

Pilates- Adults 18+
Pilates is coordination of mind, body and spirit.  This principles of awareness, balance, breath, concentration, control, coordination, efficiency, flow, and precision work harmoniously to create a holistic approach to movement.  Barre is a fun, energetic workout that blends elements of Pilates, Yoga and dance to tone and define the whole body. It is perfect for core, posture, and cross training. Class is limited to 12 participants.

Day and Time: Mondays and Fridays, 8:45-9:45am
Class begins on February 7th and ends on Friday, March 4th

Barre - Adults 18+
Barre is a fun, energetic workout that blends elements of Plates, Yoga, and dance to tone and define the whole body.  It is a dynamic conditioning class that is a perfect balance of strength, flexibility, and cardio, all to a musical beat. Class is limited to 12 participants.

Tai Chi - Adults 18+
Tai Chi is a gentle energetic practice for improving balance, posture and well being. Class is limited to 12 participants.

Day and Time: Thursday 7:00-8:00pm
Class begins on Thursday, February 10th and end on Thursday, March 3rd
Location: Salem YMCA, 1 Sewall St. Salem
Cost: FREE FOR SALEM RESIDENTS

We are following all public health guidelines issued by the City of Salem Board of Health to include:
- Face coverings are mandatory
- Individuals ages 12 and older are required to present proof of either one dose of vaccination , either a one dose or two dose series.
