Working on homework
Salem Park, Recreation and Community Services is pleased to be working with Code Wiz to provide virtual coding classes this fall and spring.  All sessions require a PC, MAC or Chromebook (Chromebook will not work for Roblox Coding and Minecraft Coding)   No prior coding knowledge or experience is required.
Things you will need:
- A web camera
- a USB headset (optional, but  helpful)
- a computer mouse will be helpful for these classes
- high speed internet
- Zoom App installed

Session Dates:

Spring Session 1: Tuesday classes - January 4th - February 8th
                               Wednesday classes - January 5th - February 9th

Spring Session 2:  Tuesday Classes - February 15th - March 29th 
                               Wednesday classes - February 16th - March 30th
                               * both sessions skip February School Vacation week ( 2/22 and 2/23)

Spring Session 3: Tuesday Classes - April 5th - May 17th
                               Wednesday Classes - April 6th - May 18th
                              * both sessions skip April School Vacation week ( 4/19 and 4/20)



Price: Special Introductory Rate of $145.00 per session

Roblox Coding ( A PC or MAC is required, a Chromebook will not work for this class) - All Sessions
Ages: 7-14
Day and Time: Tuesdays 5:00-6:00pm
Course Description: Become a Roblox game wiz using Lua!  Create versions of your fairytale universe with Roblox.  Roblox studio has all the tolls to make your wildest gaming imaginations a reality.  In this program you will learn how to make use of the many tools on Roblox to code terrific games, relaying your imaginative capabilities to the world.  Through drag and drop techniques, you'll be creating extensions to the Roblox game while fostering your creativity and learning real-world computer coding.

Minecraft Coding ( A PC or Mac is required, Chromebook will not work for this class) - All Sessions
Ages: 8-14
Day and Time: Tuesday 6:30-7:30pm
Course Description: Explore, create or survive!  Mine deep into the minecraft world and create the future! In this creative program, challenge the odds, craft your own kinds of weapons and build dream worlds using code.  Do this while also learning fundamental programming concepts, level design and problem solving skills.  You will make use of Ready made coding blocks to create mini versions of Minecraft games.


Game Based Python - Spring Session 2 & 3
Ages: 7-10
Day and Time: Wednesdays 5:00-6:00pm
Course Description: Students will work up to advanced Python coding through interactive lessons and mini-projects.  Python is one of the world's most popular programming languages.  Students acquire critical problem solving and computational thinking skills. 

Programming (Python/Java/Javascript) - Spring Session 2 & 3
Ages: 10+
Day and Time: Wednesdays 6:30-7:30pm
Course Description:  This course will teach students text-based coding languages, and expand their knowledge as they gain proficiency in foundational coding concepts, while also learning all the exciting applications of code by building their own projects and programs.  Students will work through each language at their own pace.
