Drawing and Making Dimensional Objects
Join local architect, J Michael Sullivan, for this 8 week class that will explore the ancient art form of folding paper into three-dimensional shapes. These objects will become the subject of still life arrangement for drawing with pencils and charcoals. Students will be drawing in sketchbooks and on larger formats with charcoal.
The program will be entirely hand work. The origami objects will fly, and also present organic shapes to enlighten the still lives. Outdoor drawings will be part of the program.
J. Michael is an architect. He has practiced architecture in New England for more then 30 years. His career began with a lot of drawing and has seen that skill being replaced by computer aided design. He believes you have to draw before you can input commands into a computer. J. Michael studies Origami because of its geometry and creation of three dimensional forms from a piece of paper.
